Memorial Day

I hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day. I visited the cemetary where my father is buried this morning. There is a memorial for the war veterans..

Then I headed for town and stopped at the Rose Hill cemetary in the middle of town. I have lived in York for 45 years and have never visited this cemetary. It is filled with people as earlier as the 1800's and confederate soldiers.

I was spellbound by the history on these tombstones..

I plan on visiting again. Then I walked down a few blocks and took some pictures of some of the old houses. They are gorgeous!

Look how they laid the sidewalk around this tree..

I hope you enjoy these pictures of my hometown.

Mary had a little lamb....

Mary was so lucky! I have always wanted a lamb, but now I have the next best thing because one of my neighbors has a pasture full! And I don't have to worry about raising or feeding one. All I have to do is ride by and watch them grow.

He has about twenty little lambs along with about that many grown sheep. A few of the lambs are black or brown. They are so darling!
The ball team had three back-to-back ball games this week. While the boys did not win, they played hard and really made the other teams work for their runs. The only downer is one or two of the parents make comments about the coaches. It has always been my opinion about any sport, that the coaches can only do so much. It's up to the players to follow the coaches instructions and play like they want to win. But as in all sports, there is always someone who thinks their child is the only one that can play and they are the 'hero' that will win the game. Oh well, you can't win them all!
Micki and I went yard saling yesterday and again came home with barely anything. I did finally find a bed including a mattress for $20! WooHoo! Now, I need to find another one.

I also found some RugRats...

That's about it! :-(    Maybe next week!
My oldest granddaughter, Ashton graduates Friday. She has grown in such a beautiful young woman and her
Grandpa and I are so proud of her.

She is forever taking pictures of herself to post on Facebook!
Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend!

Hot weather is here!

It has finally hit 90 degrees here in SC! I heard the weatherman say this morning that it has been 8 months since we hit 90 degrees! Although it is hot, the sunshine is beautiful and the boys finally got to go swimming yesterday and are going to go after ball practice this afternoon,

My son gave me this hibiscus for Mother's Day..

Micki and the boys went with me yard saling yesterday. Plenty of yard sales, but I am not looking for baby stuff! Seems that's all anyone is selling this year! I have been looking for a nice bed, but haven't found one yet. This year is all about reading and books for me. I found a "few" books by my favorite author, Debbie Macomber....

Just a few  :-)  I found a radio for $2 and another trinket box..

Have you been watching Extreme Couponer's on TLC? While I think it is crazy to buy 100 deoderants or 50 toothpaste, they do give some good tips. Bilo and Harris-Teeter were having good sales this week. Along with the buy-one-get-one items, Harris Teeter had 'buy 2, get 3 free' on Pepsi products and potato chips. So, Janet, Micki, and I went to stock up for the 4th cookout, baseball party, and the rest of the summer.

This was the first time that I actually saved some money using coupons! I  saved $64.67 at Bilo and $83.46 at Harris Teeter!

We are going to start scouring the sales papers more closely and save together. Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I seem to have developed "bloggers-block" . For some reason I am not interested about checking the blogs. Have any of you had this problem? I'll be glad when I get my 'mojo' back! Until then, please don't forget me, because I will not forget you. Have a great week!

Tuesday Tirade

Doesn't it just irritate you when a member of management acts like you are being unreasonable because you are following documented procedures and they want you to ignore them and do as they say? I mean, get real! I am in control of all documents and know the verbage, because I am the one that writes them!! AAARRRGGHH!

Ball games and books

Hello to all my blogging friends! It's been a busy week here in beautiful downtown York,SC! We had a really bad storm Tuesday night causing quite a bit of damage to several homes, trees down and power outages. Craig and Holly were without power until sometime Friday. Micki and Timmy did not get power until Friday night. The boys stayed with us at night.
Mother's Day was great and all of my kids came over. Here is a photo of me and my great kids. That's Micki on the left, Craig behind me, and Janet on the right. Ignore my puffy eyes! I need an extreme makeover! Thank God I finally got a haircut Tuesday!

Gavin  had a couple of games this week.

Grandpa Justin helps with the coaching..

I've been reading more books. The latest was Nicholas Spark's The Last Song. Tears flowed with this one!
The yard sales 'suck' this year! I managed to find a couple of X-box games for the boys, a couple of DVD's and a couple of books. Nothing to blog about! Maybe next week!

Water for Elephants

I finished reading this great book that I bought at a yard sale for 50 cents and can't wait to see the movie! I started reading Sunday night and finished Monday night!
I have not been 'surfing the web' lately and hope all of my friends understand. Hope everyone has a great week.

Proud Grandma

Good morning to all from a very proud Grandma! Gavin's ball team played their first official ball game last night and won 15-0! Gavin was the pitcher for the first inning and half of the second. He's a southpaw (left-handed) and can bat either right or left-handed.

This was the score before they made 4 more runs.

These were made with my phone so they aren't as clear as I would like. Next time, I'm taking my camera.
