Serenity Gown

Finished the secret gift for my sister-in-law. Or I thought it was secret! I would have been posting earlier if I had known. Anyway, here's the christening gown she asked me to make for her daughter's baby that is due in a couple months. Pattern here. Size 10 thread, size 7 hook.

She wanted a pink set but there wasn't enough pink thread at the store. So I added a pink ribbon instead of white and pink bows on the bodice and bonnet.
You can't see very well in these pictures, but there are clear beads on the points above the ribbon.

I forgot she wanted booties also, so I'll try to find a pattern tonight.

Saturday News

Rainy and cold started the day, but the sun came out and warmed it up just a little. I can't wait till yard sales start! I had to go to town so I stopped by the local thrift store. Didn't find anything for me but the grandkids scored! Ten dollars for all! A couple of fresh batteries and they worked!

Crazy Uno! He is on a running chain and wants off to knock me down! He's still just a big puppy but he's strong!
Justin started working on making a larger lot for him so he wouldn't have to be chained. He's going to add wire fencing to the rails.

I ask him everyday if he's got my bench put together. He told me the other day he had worked on it, so I checked. Nothing! He laughed and said he had worked on it because he moved the box from one spot to another! Really? Oh well, maybe I'll get it before long.
Still crocheting on the gift.
There's going to be a show about the 2014 Longest Yard Sale tonight. Maybe Pam and I will be on it! Have a great week!

Crochet and boats??

Look what I got in the mail yesterday!
I can't wait to try these out! I've had to put the graphghan aside for a while because I was asked to make something for my sister-in-law. It's made with size 10 thread and after working with yarn for so long, it's sort of tedious. But it's coming along. Can't tell you what it is because it's a gift.
Remember the iron bench that I bought before Christmas? You know, the $149 one that I found for 90% off making it $14.99? Well, it seems Justin has! I ask him almost everyday to put it together but he has another project on his mind! This............
He sold his bass boat and bought this pontoon. Everyday he's out there doing something! I'm not begrudging him having a new toy, but I just want my bench!
Men! Can't live with them, can't live without them!

Crochet WIP's

I finally finished another secret project that I can't show you until after a baby shower. I hate not being able to share, but trust me, you'll love it! I can show you a finished throw that I worked on in between Christmas projects and the baby project. I started this when I was making the Chevron purses thinking this bulky yarn would make a beautiful purse. It's Loops & Thread Charisma yarn and it would probably work for a purse if I deleted some stitches. It's warm and soft!
I spent yesterday afternoon browsing through my Crochet World magazines and while there are some great patterns, nothing caught my eye as a "must make" project! So, I searched my Facebook crochet groups for a graphghan chart. My grandson-in-law wants a New Orleans Saints afghan but I didn't want to make the same one that I made for Sloan. I couldn't find what I wanted so I 'googled' an image and made my own. I use Gimp and KPG to make a written pattern. I wanted to try Tunisian crochet this time and here is my progress....
This is what it should look like when finished.
So far, so good! Kids are out of school, again!! Teacher workday today and MLK day Monday!! The only good thing about this is being able to sleep late!

Saturday News

Pam and I went antiquing today at the antique store in Belmont,NC. We spent 4 hours just browsing. Look at this beautiful Tunisian afghan I found in a booth! The price tag was $100. Worth more than that! No, I didn't buy it!
Some of the booths are so interesting.
A steampunk lamp made with Mason jars and plumbing!
Pam's late father-in-law raised tobacco and there are plenty of tobacco sticks in his barn. Great idea for Christmas!
I would love to have this monkey chandelier, but $2750 was just a tad too much!
Maybe I could afford this one.....
This is all I bought.....a Harley Davidson gas pump pitcher for $5. It has a 1990 date on the bottom.
Across the street another antique store had a "close-out" sale. These two Disney characters are all I bought there for $1 each.
Look at these sweet babies! I used to sleep like that!
Maxel is growing and looking more like Daddy everyday.
Della is still her Mama's mini-me! That hair!
The boys are with their Mom and Dad tonight, so Justin and I are enjoying the peace and quiet. It's still cold and they're calling for rain next week. Can't wait for spring!

I like this one better

I wasn't going to be satisfied until I made a poncho using worsted weight yarn. So here's my second poncho.
I used Red Heart Super Saver and I Love This Yarn from my stash. What do you think?
