Vintage Reading

Welcome to Vintage Thingy Thursday! Don't forget to visit "Colorado Lady" for other posts.
My sister gave me this "Ladies Birthday Almanac" one year for my birthday. It's dated the year I was born.
How many remember the taste of Syrup of Black-Draught and the smell of Soltice?

Are you worried abot the change of life?

I found this Good Housekeeping Needlecraft magazine dated Fall/Winter 1977/1978 while cleaning my mother's sewing room last weekend.
Ad in magazine.
Some Little Golden Books. How many remember reading "Misty of Chincoteague? I used to read "The Animals of Farmer Jones" everyday while I was rocking my son for his nap.

Crochet and yard sales! You are my kind of person.
Love the old magazines. I have a hard time resisting buying them when I see them. What a thoughtful gift from your sis. And yes, I am worried about the change of life. What kind of advice was given back then?

I can assure you I know all about the old medicine remedies. I have had more than my share of Black Draught and castor oil. We should own stock in Vicks. I have a hard time with orange juice today as that is what my mother used to kill the taste.

I never heard of Black Draught--it sounds like the name of a beer. I also never heard of the Ladies Birthday Almanac--that is extra nice because it was the year you were born.

Aw, those Little Golden Books bring back memories. Misty of Chincoteague and Frosty for me, and Tootle for having read it to my daughter. Thanks!
