Saturday News
Saturday was a "just me and my hubby" day. Our anniversary is Tuesday so we just spent the day together junkin', dinner, and new baby. We stopped at one yard sale but didn't find anything. After breakfast at MickeyD's, we headed to Monroe, NC where we had spied a few shops when we bought the new car. The first stop was a flea market. What a disappointment! No offense but I thought we had traveled to Mexico!!
Next we found several shops that intrigued me but was boring to Justin. Now he knows how I feel when he goes to a sports or gun store! I found another trinket box for my collection.
It had a tiny gold elephant inside......
Look at the crochet afghans I found in one store.........
I want this chandelier!!
There were two lamps just like the one I bought at Walmart...........
Look at what they had them priced!! I paid $19 for mine!
We stopped by Craig and Holly's to see Amelia. I didn't take any pictures (shock!) but here is Grandpa with her in the hospital.....

Love this man!
Here's what I'm working on. I started this when we went on vacation and have put it aside to do other things. After this row of purple, there is a row of triangles and edging. I think I like it!

Silver Anniversary
Fifty years ago today, my parents moved our family from Charlotte, NC to a small town in South Carolina called York.
I was 12 years old and thought we were moving from to a place where the people would be country bumpkins. Yes the town was smaller than I was used to but was I surprised to find that the kids were farther advanced in school than I was! I was starting the seventh grade and knew no one! Because of where our home was ( four miles from town), we had to ride the school bus with the kids from the neighboring town called Sharon. Ironic that the elementary school I just left was called Sharon Elementary! It was located near what is now the Southpark Mall, but years ago it was also where my mother went to high school!
Riding the school bus with kids you didn't know was hard. The boys from Sharon thought it was funny to make fun of me and call me Charlotta. To this day, I cannot stand for anyone to call me that! The kids on the bus were also a "little rougher" than I was used to. It wasn't long before I had learned curse words that I had never heard before! There was a fight on the bus at least twice a week.
Because I had to ride the "Sharon" bus, the kids from York thought I had gone to school through sixth grade in Sharon. They never acknowledged that I was a "new" kid! The classwork was hard because I had not been taught the "new math" at my old school. I almost failed seventh grade! Who knew that "a+b=c"?
But I made it through school, made some new friends, and graduated in 1971.
Happy 50th Anniversary! Welcome home!

Saturday news
What a weekend! Justin and I decided to go out to eat last night for our anniversary while the boys were at friend's houses. What a clusterfuck! Excuse my French, but it was a mess! We went first to the Texas Roadhouse steak-house and were told it would be an hour wait! So we left and tried another steakhouse, but another hour wait! Damn! So, we went to Cracker Barrel......only 20 minutes to wait. So we rocked on the front porch until our name was called. Even took a selfie........................
After we placed our order, we waited.....and waited............and waited! Seemed everybody else around us that had been seated after us were already eating! WTF? So, we got up and left, but not before Justin let the manager know how bad our service was. Back to Texas Roadhouse and another wait! But at least we had roasted peanuts and good music to keep us occupied. Another selfie.....................
Finally got seated and our order placed. We timed the service and was promptly brought our salads. Soon after, our steaks arrived only they were still 'mooing'! Justin insisted they take mine back, which they did. When they brought mine back (cooked this time!), I had them take Justin's back also. The manager came by and apologized for our steaks. She gave us a 'free appetizer' for our next visit, gave us Justin's steak free, and a free dessert for our anniversary! Thank you Texas Roadhouse! All we got from Cracker Barrel was "I'm sorry"!
This morning, Janet and I went yard saling. Found some goodies.................a 1967 Camaro for Sloan's collection...............$2
................drum set for Gavin......................50 cents
............Minnie Mouse plates for Della.....................$1
............a vintage knitted doily.......................$1
................a Japanese scene..............50 cents (I have several of these)...............
............an old fisherman and bear for Pam's cabin..............50 cents.............
.............a Beanie Baby Cockatoo for me........25 cents.................
.......................a primitive doll $1.......................
............a Beanie Baby poodle for Vivien .....50 cents..................
Even though the picture is blurry I think you understand! 50 cents.................
...............a wooden and fabric cat $1...............................................
............three little fishies...........ceramic.............50 cents................
..............a peacock...........$1......................
.............three Mallard ducks...........50 cents each.....................
..............a painting ............$1..........................(the ducks look good against it, don't they?)
.........my best find and most expensive, the Eiffel tower...........$5. Still had the tags on it!
That's it for now. Gonna order some pizza and put my feet up!
