Then Friday, my oldest grandaughter, Ashton, graduated from high school at 10:00am. Here she is with Grandpa....
and Grandma...
Mom and Dad...
and a group shot of all of the grandkids...
Gavin (12), Ashton (18), Kayla (13) and Sloan (9).
Then Saturday morning, Gavin had a playoff game at 9:00 am!! I dropped Justin and the boys off at the ball field at 7:55 and headed in search of a few yard sales before the game started. The first one I found yielded the best bargain of the day.... a sofa for $125!
I gave the lady $20 to hold it for me until I went to the ATM for the rest. Rodney helped me bring it home in his truck after the game. I found another great yard sale that looked like they had cleaned out 'granny's' house! I found this painting for $1...
The frame caught my eye first and I found a larger one, with an ugly picture, for $1 also. I only wanted the frame for this one...
The first one is an 8x10, while this one is a 10x13. I was about to stop shopping when I spotted this chenille bedspread...
Got it for a $1 also! Then I had to rush back to the game where it was so hot that Janet made me a paper hat with her newspaper to shade my eyes from the sun! I know I looked ridiculous, but it kept the sun out of my eyes!
After the game, Rodney helped me pick up my 'new' sofa and by the time I had vaccumed the cushions and put it into place, it was time to get ready to go to my niece Olivia's dance recital! It started at 2:00 pm but I left the house at 1:00 because Mother was going with me. Micki also went and helped me get Mother and her wheelchair in and out of the car. When they handed us a program, we were shocked to see that there was going to be 55 performances!!! Olivia did not perform until #28 and #43!! By that time it was almost 4:30, so we left and I took Mother home. But wait, it doesn't stop there! !!
Janet and Rodney were having a cookout for Ashton's graduation. So, I stopped at my house long enough to visit the bathroom and back into the car we go! Yes, I know Janet lives behind us, but I did not feel like walking at this point! We had a good time and ate some great food, but I was glad to get home and finally sit down to rest!
Today, I slept a little late (6:00)! After reading the paper and drinking my coffee, I ate a bowl of cereal, got dressed and went down to check on Mother. I usually change her bed linens every two weeks and when I started stripping the bed, I took the mattress cover off as well. I put them in the wash and told her I would be back to put them in the dryer later. When I went to check on the wash, it wasn't quite through, so I grabbed the broom and started sweeping the leaves and dirt that had accumulated in the storage building where Mother's washer and dryer is stored. It is also where she has a freezer, stores what she cans during the summer, and a general storage area. I kept cleaning and started feeling like I was in a Hoarder's episode! There were empty boxes, empty bags, a collection of detergent scoops, old baskets, enough bedpans for an entire hospital ward, bags of silk flowers, ...... I could go on but you get the picture. I'll bet she has enough empty canning jars to supply the entire county! And don't you dare throw any of them away!! There was jelly that was so old that it had turned back into sugar! She still has the walker that my baby sister used and she will be 41 in August!! I finally finished with about 5 large bags filled with trash and about 15 empty boxes to be trashed. My brother came down when I was almost through and I took him out to see what I had done. I had found about 20 peach baskets under a bench and he told me he had looked everywhere for a basket and couldn't find them! All of this was not just my Mother but also my Daddy's hoard. Daddy did not want Mother to throw anything away!
So now, I'm finally through with this long weekend and am actually looking forward to going to work tomorrow! Hope you had a great weekend!

Ok, seriously, I am so exhausted after reading your post. I live a very similar life. Kids, grandkids, taking care of mom, trying to take care of my own home and yard and husband and dog and chickens . . . . it never ends. That's why I am so glad I get to work on my projects, it just recharges me. I give you credit. I don't think I could have done it all. You are an amazing woman!!! God bless you! Go to bed!
