Diggin' up trees!

I have been accused of stealing! I live in a rural area with woods surrounding the homes where I live. Each morning when I took the grandkids to school, I noticed a bush like my mother has in the woods.
This area has no houses nearby, so this morning I stopped and proceeded to dig this bush out. I was almost through when a car drove by real slow and then stopped up the road. When I finally got the bush out and was putting it in my car, a lady got out and said, "That's my property".
All I could say was "Sorry".
A couple of hours later, a sheriff's deputy stopped by my house! She called the cops over a damn tree!
I don't know where this is going to go, but as I explained to the deputy, I have lived on this road since 1965 and have always dug trees out of the woods! This lady is a neighbor!
This would be hilarious if it wasn't so damn stupid!

She sounds like the sort of neighbors I have behind me - idiotic (that's the nicest word I can think of). I hope it all works out for you. :)

By not posting with your name, you mean nothing to me! I DID NOT go onto someone's property... it was on the side of the road that is maintained by the state!

Sounds like she would rather have the bush left on the side of the road to be run over with a cleanup by county/state workers than know that the bush could be happy in your yard showing off all its beauty and being enjoyed! She's probably one of those that complains about the sun coming up each morning!!

wow that's messed up, In all honesty though there have been times where I saw the most perfect set of flowers on a property and dug them out. I think I might do the same as you..It's kinda screwed up she called the cops though

You should have been with us the day we admired some day lilies at a yard sale, and the lady told us she was moving and if we wanted to dig up her day lilies that would be fine. We paid her a few bucks, went home for a shovel, came back and started digging. (Her sale had ended and she wasn't around, but knew we were coming back.) The plants were on both sides of her driveway in the parking strip, and we'd been digging for a while when the woman next door came out and demanded to know why we were digging up her yard. Seems there was some disagreement over exactly where their property line was! Fortunately we got out of there without the cops being called. And the woman who'd sold us the plants later delivered them to our house. Guess she figured since she was moving she didn't care what the neighbor thought!
