Boone or bust!

Justin, the boys, and I took a one-day trip to the mountains Saturday morning. We stopped at a flea market in Hudson, NC where the 'boys' bought two guns and I bought a Maxwell House coffee can and a large Mason jar.
 I think this is a two-quart jar.
We stopped at Blowing Rock on the way to Boone. Sloan has never seen Blowing Rock before.

On the way to Boone, we stopped at Tweetsie Railroad because again Sloan has never been.
Gavin was "too old" (14) for all of the fun and reluctantly tagged along, although it was hard to get him in any pictures. For those who don't know what Tweetsie is, it's a wild west town with a real steam engine train.

We had lots of laughs with the funny mirrors while waiting in line for the sky-lift ride.

We tried leaving them in jail but they escaped!

Go-cart racing later ......

.....and gem-mining. Just looked like  wet rocks to me!
It was raining this morning when we got up, but it was still beautiful.
Glad to be back home. The "boys" are talking about going back to fish. Go ahead, I'll stay here and go shopping! How was your weekend?

Looks like you all had such fun! I used to love mining for "gold". I think I'd sit out the fishing and go shopping too.
