New Friends and Old Memories

It's that time again! Vintage Thingy Thursday sponsored by Suzanne at Colorado Lady. Join us and visit some of the most interesting people you'll ever meet. Speaking of interesting people, I got home from work this afternoon, checked the mailbox and found a package addressed to me from LaVoice from Thoughts from Meme's corner. Look what she sent me!

I was not expecting this but I sure do appreciate her thinking of me. Thank you, LV.
I am posting for VTT a bottle opener that belonged to my daddy. I never knew that was what it was until  about a year ago. That's a picture of Daddy behind it.
He also had this ship which is actually part of a set of bookends.

Daddy died in 2003 from lung cancer. I miss him terribly because he and I had something special that my brother and sisters would never have. I was born on daddy's birthday! Here is a picture of me and daddy on my 6th birthday (I think that's how many candles I count). Check out those cat-eye glasses! I still have them but I couldn't find them in time to post. I'll do that another day.

Happy VTT!

Sweetie, I don't think your link is working from VTT. I came here from La Voice's blog. Go check it. Lovely vintage pieces. I love the patina on the ship bookend. So nice to have treasures from those you love.

I have a bottle opener like yours (I will probably post it sometime).

That's a cute picture of you and your daddy. It's amazing that you had the same birthday.

Your link is missing an "s."

I remember wearing cat eye glasses nearly identical to those when I was just about that same age! Also - - - the hair cut - - - I had one like that too!!!

What a wonderful post! Dad's are something special, aren't they? I lost mine in '91, and still miss him terribly. I sure would like to see those cat-eye glasses! I remember my Mom having a few pairs of those. I'll have to ask her if she still has them!
Happy VTT!

How nice to remember your dad. I lost mine when I was 13, so I have small items of his that are my greatest treasures. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Charlotte...
I loved the picture of you and your day,,,,and the bottle opener.... and I love, love, love the crocheted piece.
I know it's not pink..but it will still be part of my Pink Saturday post this week. There was much happy dancing when I opened that package and saw what was inside.
I've some more Sue patterns for your mom as soon as I can scan them in...work and a husband being ill takes almost all my time... I'm sure beginning to slow down..
Hugs my friend...and Happy VTT..
