Vintage Reading

Welcome to Vintage Thing Thursday sponsored by Suzanne at Colorado Lady. Join in the fun and try to visit as many friends as possible. As promised in my Saturday yard sale post, I am showing some of the pages from the Mad magazines and Jot em' Down Store Party book that I found. The Mad magazines were from 1968. That's 42 years ago! Seems like only yesterday! I remember reading the Bonnie and Clyde issue.

The LBJ issue has a poster of Alfred E. Neuman for President. It only has one small tear(on the left side at the fold).

This same issue also has a bumper sticker. How many of us ripped these out and hung them on our bedroom walls?

This is an ad on the back cover.

Here's an ad for Lucky Strike cigarettes.

Famous people wearing protest buttons. How many can you name?

Remember the back cover where you had to fold it to make another picture?

The Jot em' Down Store Party book is from 1939. Over 71 years old! It has some hilarious pages.

Look! An organ for $23! We're saving $17!!
This complete outfit sells for $9.95 includin' a pair of roller skates!
This mighty purty clock is only $6.75!
July 1939 almanac. My daddy would have been 12 years old this month.
The financial report for the Jot em' down store.
Until next week!!

Hi Charlotte, I like the magazines you shared today. I remember MAD magazine! Thanks for visiting my blog. You inquired about my Old Country Roses - right now I only have one place setting but I plan to purchase 8, perhaps just one at a time.
Love your blog template, too! Sue at It's a very Cherry world would love it too! I see a Younkers ad on your blog - I thought you must be a midwesterner but I see you live in SC. I didn't know you had Younkers stores there.
Have a great day!
Beth

I remember my brother buying MAD magazines. He most likely has all his issues. He's never let me touch them. He was very picky with all his things. So that's what they looked like inside LOL

I also had a problem early with getting to your blog. Glad you fixed it. I love all your "MAD" for today. But most of all, I went into shock when the mail came. I am thrilled to death with my gift. Will do a feature on it soon. You are the best. Thanks so very much.

These are so neat! (I could only name three of the people in the protest button picture...well, actually only two, Nixon and Reagan, but I think the third is a Kennedy :) My little brother and I bought MAD in the late 80s and early 90s...not as neat as these ones though :) Thanks for sharing!
