Vintage ads

WooHoo! Vintage Thingie Thursday again! I love reading everyone's post. Hope you can join us for VTT sponsored by Suzanne at Colorado Lady.
I have tried to find my cat-eye glasses that I posted about last week, but I cannot find them! Boy, I hid them good! Don't you hate it when you can't find something and you have looked in all of the obvious places? Oh well, I'll find them one day when I'm not looking for them.
This week I thought I would show three ads that are framed. The first two I bought at a yard sale for $1 each. The first one advertises "The New Playtex Fab Lined Girdle".It's dated 1950 and the highest price is $5.95!
The second one is a 1950 Coca-Cola ad..
The last one is an ad for Coats and Clark Speed Cro-Sheen. This was part of the crochet books that I found at a yard sale. The date is somewhere between 1942 and 1953. The crochet books are mentioned in an earlier post.
See ya next week!

I guess I'll have to get me a girdle so I can be that happy!

Oh, I can not even imagine wearing a girdle. The modern day spanx are bad enough!!! Have a great VTT!

I couldn't find the things I wanted to show this week. I thought I saw them recently, but now I wonder I just imagined seeing them.

So funny, She looks like she is absolutely dancing with delight over wearing a girdle.

I love these old ads. Have a couple framed ones myself. I really like the colorful Coats & Clark ad.

I love vintage graphics (and more often than not post about them). The thread ad is really cool.

P.S. I just put something away for safekeeping. It's so safe even I can't find it!

I missed the girdle but now we have 'control top' panty hose. Ugh. the more things change, the more they stay the same.
Happy VTT.

I remember my Mom always wearing a girdle when she was younger, and I don't ever remember her acting as giddy as the gals in that ad! I love those ads, and I'm disappointed that you couldn't find your cat-eye glasses! But it reminds me that I want to ask my Mom if she still has hers. I'll have to write myself a note, because I wanted to ask her last week, but I forgot!
Happy VTT!

I remember some of these ads, but was fortunate enough not to need a girdle. I enjoy reading and seeing any older ads.

Ha! From what I've heard about girdles, I'm surprised these women are able to be so limber in them! Thanks for sharing and have a great day!

All those ladies are so excited about "not being able to breathe". We used to have to wear girdles when I was a teenager. Thank goodness those days are long gone. The Coke add is really cool too.

These ads are GREAT!! Glad to have grown up in a girdle-less generation (1960-1970's) but am suprised to see the old trusty girdle making a comeback...both my daughters love their Spanx, lol

Blessings!

That girdle ad is my favorite! I would think that a woman would be happier if she did not have to wear one! Too funny!! Come by and visit me. I have a vintage ad too. To give you a hint, if one eats too much of the cereal in my ad a girdle will be needed for sure!!

Love,
Susan and Bentley

The best places to find old postcards are postcard shows and antique shows.

Oh Charlotte, that Playtex ad is hilarious...trying to prove that you can move just fine in a girdle! (which of course, you couldn't!)
