School days

I have not participated in Vintage Thingy Thursday in a few weeks and I am glad to be back! Suzanne at Colorado Lady sponsors this great linky party and it is so much fun visting with all of the great bloggers that also participate.
My Mother finally agreed to let me have one of her high school year books. I cannot understand why she didn't want me to have it, because I am the only one of her kids that has even asked for one! It has been on a shelf for over 50 years! What was she going to do with it? Nothing!
She attended Sharon High School in Charlotte, NC. If anyone is familar with the SouthPark Mall, this is the area where this school was. In fact, I went to it from the 1st grade until the 6th grade.

This is exactly as I remember the school.
That is Mother in the middle photo (1st row). My baby sister looks just like her.
Her baseball squad. Bottom row, 1st girl on the left.
Class of 47-Banquet . Top row, dark dress
Close-up
She is still just as beautiful at 81 years young. This is Mother and Daddy on their wedding day, May 10,1952.

I enjoy seeing all vintage year books or any photo really from the older days. They just seem to have more character. In her own time, she will let it go and trust it will be you.

What sweet old photos- I think it's wonderful to be able to look back over your mom's life like that! I don't think my mother saved a single one of her yearbooks!

I wish my mother had saved her yearbook. She still had a college yearbook when I was young. I think she got rid of it just so I wouldn't look at it.

Isn't it fun to look back through those old yearbooks? Your mom was sure a looker, and it looks like she still is!

I've got my mother's High School yearbook, so much fun! My mother graduated in 1939, (a bit before your mom) - she has the greatest hairdo, looks like she has cinnamon buns on the side of her head. ;) Gives me a giggle.

I think yearbooks are wonderful - they let us see our parents as something other than our parents, plus they're fun. Enjoy!

Happy VTT,
Sally

What a nice tribute to your Mom and to the years of school that we all go through. How fast the years go.
Love the hairdos....
