Freezing in Boone

Justin and I went on a one-day trip to Boone, NC this weekend. We will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary Tuesday, so we took a small trip just to get away. We were going to leave early Friday morning, but my car decided it needed to go to the 'doctor' Thursday. Turns out we had to put a new accuator motor for the all-wheel drive. There went over $400! But we did leave after lunch Friday.
We got a room at The Village Inn in Blowing Rock. Beautiful room...

There was a pond in front with ducks...
It was 80 degrees when we left South Carolina, but it was 55 degrees and falling by the time we got to Blowing Rock. Brr! It didn't take me or Justin long to unpack our jeans and jackets!
This is the view from the back of our room...
Here are some pictures from the town of Blowing Rock. ..

Look how the sun is only reaching part of the mountain....

We stopped at the Mast's General Store in Boone. What a step back in time!

We were greeted by a beautiful black cat....
I want this rocking chair....
Beautiful scenery from the parking lot...

The temperature was 37 degrees and raining in places. One place we stopped, we actually had sleet and snow for a few minutes! So we headed home where it was a little warmer, stopping at several places on the way. We found a small flea market down the road. Justin was hung up on guns...

We had a great time and enjoyed each other's company. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

We LOVE Boone! We went one weekend (overnite) & rooms were booked every place we stopped. During the day it had been so hot! One clerk at a little motel told us to ride up to Beech Mt. We did. We stayed in a ski lodge. It was cheap and very nice. We asked if they had AC and the clerk laughed and said they never need AC. He was true to his word. We FROZE. Amazing the temp difference up on that Mountain.
We stayed several times in Blowing Rock at this motel http://www.alpine-village-inn.com/rooms-and-rates.php

We *thinging about going around Thanksgiving.

Oh! We have a Mast General Store here. LOVE it.
