Vacation at last!

We have planned our vacation for months. Searching the internet for a cabin with water access for fishing for the boys and shopping for me. Found a place in Banner Elk, NC that seemed perfect. Paid the deposit and started getting ready for a week of fun. We left Saturday morning with the boys and their friend (and Declan's dad), Kody. We stopped in Hickory for some lunch and while we were eating, Justin got a call from the owner. We knew there had been a storm Friday night because it hit our area also, but had no idea of the damage it caused at the cabin. This is a picture that was posted on Facebook! This was somewhere between Boone and Tennessee!

Power outages, trees snapped in two! We continued on hoping the power would not stay off long. Wrong! We didn't get power until almost 2:00 pm on Sunday! No way to cook, shower, and especially no internet!! We used water from the stream to flush the toilet. Sporadic cell service. Luckily, I had packed plenty of snacks and dry food, so we had something to eat.
But let me tell you the funny part of the trip! The owner had sent directions to the cabin and his last statement was "DO NOT follow GPS!"

But do you think Justin would listen to me reading the directions and not the bitch on the GPS? Nooo! Let's follow the GPS! So where did the bitch take us? On the damn scenic route! I kept waiting for banjos to start playing at any time! We did see some beautiful country but it was so off course!
