Memorial Day Weekend Sales

The day started out wet and soggy after a night of storms but ended up being a beautiful Saturday. My list had only six yard sales from the newspaper, but experience told me we would find more. So, Micki and I started out about 6:50am. The first yard sale was just getting their stuff out, but we checked out what she had and decided we would head to Clover for a church yard sale. At this sale, I found a glass pitcher and a set of silverware that had a monogram of "H". Lucky for me, our last name starts with "H". $1.50 for everything!

On the way out of Clover, we found another yard sale that had great stuff with even greater prices. I think I spent $4.50 for everything. I did not take a picture of the baseball bag I bought for Justin for $1. I found him another one (Rawlings brand) for $1 at another sale.
Great binoculars for $1....

Funky little Japanese figurines for 75cents...

A teapot night light for 75 cents.......

A darling little glass stein for 25 cents. It's only about 4" high!
A marble egg for 25 cents..........
A little Japanese plate for 25 cents........
More Japanese plates with a stand 50 cents.........
Salt and pepper set with a toothpick holder 50 cents.......
I think that's all I got from this sale. That's the kind I like to find, cheap and plenty to choose from! We headed towards York and found a few more sales and were almost ready to start towards Rock Hill, when my phone rang. It was my granddaughter, Ashton. What was she doing out of bed at 9:00 am??? She told me that she had taken her mother, my daughter Janet, to the Urgent Care center because she had fallen and cut her chin open. Janet had out-patient surgery on her sinuses Friday. She had been complaining of her ear hurting and they discovered that the membranes of her sinuses were causing fluid to drain behind her eardrum. Micki and I went to the Urgent Care center and after talking to Ashton, started back on our yard saling. Seems Janet had gone to the bathroom and obviously blacked-out on the way back to bed. She hit the floor and cut her chin, requiring 8 stitches! Poor thing, she has a bandage under her nose and one on her chin. I took a picture of her but she threatned my life if I posted it on the internet. :)
So, onward we go. Found this cute pocketbook for $1....
Barometer and thermometer thingy for the back porch ..$1.........
Lighthouse Welcome sign for the pool area... 50 cents....
Frog faucet... 75 cents.....
Dusty teapot...50 cents...
Two Home Interior rooster pictures for Mother...$3. This was the most expensive thing I bought all day.
The best deal were these dresses for $1 apiece. I used to never check out clothes at yard sales, but after losing 42 pounds, I will now look at clothes depending on the person who is having the yard sale. I don't buy clothes from just anybody.

Hope you had a great Saturday. Pop over to the Garage Salen Partay sponsored by Debbie. She is a local gal who has started a great new link for all of us yard salers!

Hi Charlotte,
Nice to meetcha! I love seeng all your "finds" from your yard sale adventure.
Hope your daughter will recover soon from the surgery and the fall. Goodness! She certainly had a double whammy.
That little brown teapot.. if that is just dust on there, that is great. It is collectable.. I am guessing you know. I probably bought the sugar bowl that goes with that (not really but it looks very similar) at a thrift store in Austin, Texas last week. It was in great condition. Think I paid $6 for it. The going rate for the large size teapot I think is about $25... at least down here.
I live in deep south Texas... so deep I am almost on the border with Mexico. I gather you are from New York? I have relatives in Ithaca and my grandfather went to Cornell for his master's degree. Pretty state!
Take care. I'll be back!

Boy- you do start early. No point leaving the house around here before 7:30 unless we are driving to a major whole area sale.
So many fantastic finds, it is hard to say a favorite, but Froggie is right up there.
