What I've been up to

Not too much, except trying to stay warm and dry. I thought Friday was going pretty good until I was picking up boys from school. I always pick Gavin up first at the high school so I can avoid the traffic. Before he could even get in the car, I get a call from Sloan's school. This is not going to be good news! Yep, he got into a scuffle with another boy and was in the nurse's office. Because of his braces, his lip was busted and needed at least one stitch! So, off to the urgent care facility.

We thought he'd have a black eye, but luckily he didn't. Boys!!
Saturday was spent at home because Justin was at work and Sloan had his buddy spending the night. No way am I going to leave two 13 year olds by theirself!
Sunday, Justin and I went to Fort Mill to see Della and Maxel dedicated at their church. Unfortunately, we were sitting in a position that I was unable to see them! Bummer! Great church but I just don't care for the loud music. Give me the old-timey hymns and no microphones, guitars, drums, video screens, etc. That's just not church to me, more like a concert!
After lunch, Pam and I went to one of our favorite antique stores. She got some great finds with good deals. I couldn't find anything until almost halfway through the store. (actually, I  found a lot I wanted, just didn't want to pay their price!) Anyhoo, here's what I came home with....
a ceramic light switch for my bathroom.......
......another trinket box. I've got to figure out a way to display all of my trinket boxes!
.....a salt and pepper set! Aren't these cute?
I know this isn't an antique, but it's the first "H" I've been able to find. I'm going to paint it black and hang beside my front door.
I did get some great ideas from a couple of booths. Look at this old window decorated for Christmas...
This idea is something I'm going to try. Cheap solar lights with glasses over them!

ATTENTION: DO NOT MENTION ANY OF THE NEXT POST TO MY HUSBAND!!
I didn't post any of my Christmas gifts because to be truthful I was disappointed. Not from my kids but from my sweet husband. I love him to death and he tries his damndest, but he just didn't get it right this year! I wanted a George Foreman grill with removable grill plates so they could be washed in the dishwasher. All he heard was 'George Foreman grill', so he bought me the biggest one they make. Only problem was, the grill plates were not removable! Damn! Then he got me a 4-slice toaster! What!! I already had a toaster!! His logic was with this one I would be able to toast twice as much! (headslap!) I kept the toaster but returned the George Foreman grill and got this electric pressure cooker instead. Love it!
He did give me some spending money like he does every year. Love him!
I can now show you my latest crochet project. I didn't want to show sooner because I was making it for my sister, Pam.

It's a pattern that I got from the Mary Maxim website for free but now they charge $3.99 for it! Right place, right time, I guess!

Good Morning, I have enjoyed catching up with you this morning while I try to decide what I want to do for breakfast. I had my wake-up call from my daughter on her drive to work this morning. She was telling me about her experience of jury duty. The salt and pepper shakers were really cute. I have never seen a set like that. Take care Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend Shirley

Wow! I love those little solar lights. Need to stock up this spring when The Dollar Tree brings them out to sell! They'd be cute with so many thrift store glasses with little jewels and beads for charms wrapped around them too!
I've missed being in the world of blogging! Hope to get back to regular soon---had 3 different surgeries this past summer.
Hope you're doing well!!

Love, love, love the birdie switch plate cover! Do you like the Instant Pot? I got one for Christmas. I've used it a couple of times. I need to find more recipes for it. Suppose I should look on Pinterest. Hope Sloan is doing better and keeping himself out of trouble. ;) As you said...boys! lol
